Community Advisory Board

Community Advisory Board for Chicago Asthma ConsortiumCAC’s Community Advisory Board is a group of adults with asthma, caregivers of children living with asthma, community educators, community leaders and representatives from patient advocacy organizations concerned about asthma. The Board is designed to be a link between those working in asthma and the community to ensure that the community and patient perspective is included in programs and research targeting asthma.

The Board usually meets quarterly throughout the year, and has provided consultation to 6 Chicago-based research projects.

Purpose:

  • To help researchers understand the outcomes that are important to people affected by asthma
  • To provide researchers with input on their research and links to the community
  • To inform the community about the wide range of asthma research being conducted in Chicago
  • To provide insight into educational and advocacy needs in the community
  • Especially focused on decreasing asthma health disparities that are particularly prevalent in neighborhoods on the south and west sides of Chicago
